The Head of the KRMA and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine discussed deepening cooperation

Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Ruslan Kravchenko met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Matsuda Kuninori on April 27. The event was also attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the KRMA Dmitrii Nazarenko and Deputies Mykola Boiko and Vitalii Vlasiuk.

The meeting participants discussed the implementation of existing projects to help the Metropolitan Region, which are already being implemented in the region with the participation of Japanese partners.

Ruslan Kravchenko thanked the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine for supporting the Ukrainian people and assisting the Kyiv region in rebuilding the infrastructure damaged by the invaders. Therefore, recently, as part of the project of emergency reconstruction of the LSA, under the assistance of the Government of Japan, seven excavators were transferred to Irpin to rebuild the community.

“Together with the Ambassador, we discussed further cooperation in the restoration of the Kyiv region. In addition, we are grateful that Japan is ready to support us in this in the future. Today we set ourselves four priority tasks: the reconstruction of housing with an emphasis on the rebuilding apartment buildings, the reconstruction of critical and social infrastructure, as well as the safety of children,” the Head of the KRMA said in his Facebook post after the meeting.

In more detail, the participants of the event focused on projects, in the implementation of which Japanese partners can assist. In particular, they discussed the implementation of an energy efficiency project, the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure and residential buildings, and the arrangement of shelters in educational institutions for safe education of children.

“We approach the issue of reconstruction systematically and comprehensively, taking into account the interests of communities.  And we’ll do it. We build based on the principles of inclusivity, barrier-free and energy efficiency. That is, in a modern, high – quality, safe and long-term way,” – Ruslan Kravchenko said.

In addition, the participants considered possible ways to deepen cooperation between the municipalities of Japan and the territorial communities of the Kyiv region, in particular by signing partnership agreements.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Japanese government has been providing strong support to Ukraine, including the Kyiv region. Therefore, in April, under the assistance of Japanese partners, 77 generators were transferred to Ukraine for the use in critical infrastructure, five of them for critical infrastructure facilities in the Metropolitan Region.
